Online Music Piracy!
One of the first controversies on the internet was the illegal sharing of music. Napster, which gave momentum to the free online file-sharing movement, was soon sued and shut down. However, many software and dedicated technologies followed, which would allow people to download, upload and share files (be it documents, audio or video files) with one another. Technologies to combat music piracy like DRM (Digital Rights Management) have been quickly bypassed by the file-sharing community, completely changing the online music sales landscape. This has made some bands like Radiohead to make some path breaking sales strategies, like offering their music for download for everyone and then asking them to pay whatever they feel is worth (or not!).
